Since I can remember, I have been fascinated by the American Civil War. Having grown up in Northern Virginia and now residing just north of Richmond, that fire is kept alive through my day to day travels past those sacred fields and forests where many a brave and resolute American paid the ultimate price for his flag, his state and his country. I have developed this site as a repository for the 40+ years of research I have compiled both in the field and in the library. The relics displayed on this site were all recovered through extensive research, the cooperation of others and kind providence. They were all recovered on private property with landowner's permission and preserved for future generations. Many of these relics were literally hours away from being paved over, built upon or removed in truck loads of "Fill Dirt". Some detractors have labeled me and my relic hunting brethren "Grave Robbers", "Looters", "Trespassing Thiefs" and "Red Neck Archaeologists" - I have never robbed a grave, nor do I ever intend upon doing so; Looters steal TV sets and burn down their own houses during riots; it's not trespassing if you have permission and if you steal, yeah, you're a thief; now as for that "Red Neck Archaeologist" thing goes ........ I can live with that.
